The Science Advisory Board exhibits at the 97th AACR Conference
Posted 4/11/2006

The staff of The Science Advisory Board were on hand to promote membership at the 97th Annual American Association for Cancer Research Meeting in Washington, D.C., April 2 – 5, 2006.

The AACR meeting is the world’s largest and most comprehensive gathering of professionals in the cancer field, encompassing basic, translational, and clinical research.

According to Anthony Tremblay, Senior Development Consultant for AACR, attendance at this year’s meeting was estimated to be nearly 18,000.  The meeting included 550 invited speakers, and seven poster sessions featuring nearly 6,000 abstracts.  There were over 700 companies and organizations exhibiting at the meeting.  The Science Advisory Board staff was there to talk with scientists from around the world about the benefits of membership.

Over the four-day meeting,  staff members met with over 150 conference attendees who visited the Science Advisory Board booth.   The staff enjoyed talking with scientists from all over the world.  We especially were pleased that numerous Board members stopped by to say hello.  We invited those who stopped by our booth to register for a drawing to win two gift baskets of assorted gourmet chocolates,  fruit, and cheese. The two lucky winners are: Claudia McDonald, Research Associate at Xenogen Corporation and Professor Sandy Murray, Associate Professor of the New England Medical Center.  Congratulations!

We also provided attendees with information about the finalists and winners of the 2006 Life Science Industry Awards – which were presented at a reception, co-sponsored by The Science Advisory Board and The Scientist, on the evening of April 3. Over 2,400 scientists (including many members of The Science Advisory Board) nominated the “best in class” suppliers of life science products.  Be sure to read the article on the Life Science Industry Awards.
