SAB NewsHurricane Disaster in the Southeastern United StatesPosted 8/31/2005 The Science Advisory Board offers its deepest condolences and sympathy to those who have been affected, directly or indirectly, by Hurricane Katrina. The Science Board has over 350 members in this devasted region. Our thoughts and support go out to these individuals and their families. In keeping with The Science Advisory Board's tradition of charitable giving, The SAB is making a contribution to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund on behalf of our members. For all studies you participate in during the month of September, you will be given the option of contributing your ViewPoints toward The Science Advisory Board's donation. To learn about other ways to support victims of this natural disaster, please visit the American Red Cross Web site. Members of The Science Advisory Board who wish to make a donation of their ViewPoints, can do so by contacting Renita Street, Membership Marketing Coordinator for The Science Advisory Board. A financial donation will then be made to the American Red Cross. Additionally, if you would like to share your experience with this tragedy, particularly how it impacts you professionally, you are welcome to email your comments to Tamara Zemlo, Ph.D., MPH. We hope that by sharing your story, members of the Board might find other ways of providing assistance such as maintaining cell lines, offering temporary lab space, reviewing grants or manuscripts, etc. |
